WHATSAPP NEW POLICY UPDATE

If you recently scramble upon news or yourself encountered WhatsApp’s new privacy policy update, you might be confused as some people are calling this move by WhatsApp tricky and hard to understand.

I have tried to simplify this new update for you.

So, WHAT’S UP WITH WHATSAPP

WhatsApp New Policy Update
WhatsApp New Policy Update

Yesterday WhatsApp popped a message to my phone screen about new policy updates and gave a deadline to agree to the new terms or find a new resort.

In headlines, agreeing to these terms will mean you are willing to share some of your private data with Facebook (which is the parent company of WhatsApp).

If one doesn’t agree to the pop-up message before February 8th, 2021, he or she will lose access to all WhatsApp services.

This message will pop-up frequently up until you decide to accept or ignore it until the deadline.

“By tapping Agree, you accept the new terms, which take effect on February 8, 2021,” the notification states.

Deleting the App

After this date, you’ll need to accept the new terms to continue using WhatsApp. You can also visit the Help Center if you would prefer to delete your account. If you don’t delete WhatsApp from the inside (by just uninstalling the app) they will still be able to use some of your private information.

End to End Encryption

Promise for Encrypted Messages

If you look into the details of encrypted messages, it is still majorly unchanged. They are still promising their agenda and stating boldly that “Privacy and Security is in our DNA”. So, what changed then?

Data Collection

Data collected includes “battery level, signal strength, app version, browser information, mobile network, connection information (including phone number, mobile operator or ISP), language and time zone, IP address, device operations information, and identifiers (including identifiers unique to Facebook Company Products associated with the same device or account).

What do you think about this new update?
